Blackberries

Berry Blossom Farms has 300+ Raspberry, Golden Raspberry, and Blackberry plants.

Blackberry questions answered

When are they ripe?

Our blackberries are ripe from mid August to mid September.

We close the field often, check before you come!

How to upick blackberries?

Head to the checkout stand and grab a couple buckets. Line the buckets with a bag. This makes it easier to take your fruit home, and help with the cleaning process. Head out into the field and pick a row. Pick berries that are a deep colored. They should come off of the plant extremely easily. Please respect our farm, by not yanking the berries off aggressively and being gentle on the plants.

Lastly, bring your bounty back to the checkout stand, weigh your bucket. The scale is price calculating, place your bucket on the scale, & press the appropriate button, log your fruit in the log book, and pay, rounding to the closest $0.50!

Where do I go?

Our raspberry/blackberry field is best accessed at 14872 N Atlas Rd.

What do I do when I get home?

We recommend:

Fresh- only wash as you eat. Unsprayed farm fruit can take on a different texture if washed and then let to sit.

Freezing- wash and pack into freezer bag, lay flat in freezer.

What varieties do you have?

We have thornless blackberry plants

Do you spray?

We do NOT spray, we do fertilize.

Because we fertilize we aren't considered organic.

Please:

-Respect the field closures.

-Drive slow, there are mini pickers out and about, it helps to keep the dust down too.

-Respect the plants, help kiddos to be gentle and kind.

-Line the buckets with a bag.

-Log your weight into the logbook.

-Pay with cash or Venmo.

Facts about our field

We planted 300 raspberries, golden and blackberries.

Are you open?

Being open is based on factors we can't control.

1.Weather - which affects ripening and growing.

2.How much is picked - we can never know how many people will want to pick any given day.

That being said, there will be days we close the field to allow for ripening.

You can check Facebook, Google, or our Voicemail to make sure we're open before your visit.
